About the International Society for Priorities in Health

Learn about the foundation and guiding principles of the International Society for Priorities in Health (ISPH).

OVERVIEW

Building a Global Network in Health Priority Setting

The International Society for Priorities in Health was formed in 1996 to strengthen the theory and practice of priority setting in health care. It is the leading international forum for health researchers, clinicians, policy makers and managers involved in priority setting to exchange ideas and experiences.

The Society draws its membership from across various disciplines including academics and practitioners from medicine and healthcare sciences, public health, economics, management and the social sciences.

Our biennial meetings have taken place across the world, including Linköping, Birmingham, Melbourne, Vancouver and Boston, attracting around 300 delegates.

Mission

To promote research excellence in priority setting and to improve decision making on health priorities around the world.

Vision

Priority setting is an intrinsically complex process, which takes place in an environment of diverging social values and interests. Methods to support decision makers should reflect this complexity, and recognise the importance of both stakeholder involvement and evidence-informed evaluation.

Strategy

As a society, we seek to maintain and strengthen the networking function we provide to our members. We currently organise a biennial conference and occasional webinars. This website is here to share resources and connect our members.

The Committee

Introducing The ISPH management Committee

ISPH is run by and for its members. A Management Committee, elected by members at the biennial conference, carries out the business of the society. We strive for open and inclusive decision-making, and welcome your contribution!
